How to choose a dataset class on GBIF? - GBIF Data Blog

If you are a (first time) publisher on GBIF and you are trying to decide which type of dataset would best fit your data, this blogpost is for you.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://data-blog.gbif.org/post/choose-dataset-type/

Great post! Love the five question figure! Will like to share some thoughts about the fifth question about deciding whether a dataset fits to the sampling-event class. For me, I will ask something more such as:

"Are the observations able to assign into different sampling events each with sampling protocols available?

This is because I’ve encountered many observation records that have information in sampling protocol (e.g. point counts, line transects, mist-net survey), but may not provide information for structuring the events, hence causing issues in filling out the eventID column.
