Could Someone Give me Advice on Integrating Local Biodiversity Data into GBIF

Hello there,

I am working on a project to digitize and integrate local biodiversity data; and I am interested in contributing this information to GBIF. Although; I have a few questions regarding the best practices for data submission and how to ensure that the data I contribute is properly formatted and aligned with GBIF’s standards.

I am working with datasets that include species occurrence records from a regional biodiversity survey. These records cover various habitats and taxonomic groups; and I want to make sure the data is both comprehensive and accurate for inclusion in the GBIF network. I would appreciate any guidance on:

Are there specific data formatting guidelines or templates that I should follow to ensure smooth submission? How can I verify that the species names and classifications in my dataset align with GBIF’s taxonomic standards?

What metadata is necessary for each record to be considered for inclusion; and how can I ensure that it meets GBIF’s requirements? How does GBIF handle data quality control; and are there any tools available for checking the quality of my data before submission?

Thank you in advance for your help and assistance.

@samzyann the GBIF helpdesk (helpdesk@gbif.org) can generally support and there are a variety of resources (e.g. Quick guide to publishing data through GBIF.org, Training and learning resources) that are available. If you can tell us more about your data (e.g. what/where/when) then specific people will be able to jump in and help based on their expertise or the geographic regions they manage.
