I am facing Issue with Data Import and Mapping in GBIF

Hello GBIF Community,

I am trying to import a dataset containing species occurrence records. The data is in CSV format and includes columns for species name, location & observation date. When I attempt to upload the CSV file to GBIF, the import process seems to complete but the data does not appear in the GBIF database as expected; I receive a confirmation message that the upload was successful but the records are not visible in the dataset search.

During the import process, I am having trouble mapping some of the columns correctly. the location data is not being recognized properly, which might be causing the records to not display

Also i have tried to checked the CSV file for formatting issues and confirmed that it adheres to GBIF’s data import guidelines.

I reviewed the mapping settings during the import process to ensure that the columns are mapped correctly to GBIF’s required fields &I have looked through any available logs or error messages but have not found specific details about why the data is not appearing.
I am not sure if this issue is related to the dataset format the import process or the mapping configuration.
Also i have check this article/rescores GBIF Issues & Flags - GBIF Data Blog

Thank you for your assistance & help :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s not clear how you’re trying to do this, but “importing” data into GBIF is not really a thing.

Data holders publish data after having had requested and received endorsement to do so, and while there are some instances where datasets are added via API or dedicated crawling, most arrive via data publishing tools like the GBIF Integrated Publishing Toolkit (IPT) among others. You might want to have a look at Quick-start guide to publishing data first.
