Whatever happened to the GBIF Ambassador badges?
I got this one at the end of 2024 GBIF AMBASSADOR 2024 but I’ve seen no sign of a similar initiative since. My profile has a section entitled “badges”, shouldn’t it be listed amongst those?
A place to put one’s ORCID would be useful too.

The “badges” section in your profile here in GBIF Community Forum are for badges earned in the Discourse platform, like how many years, likes, post, etc. Ambassadors are listed in the Ambassadors section on the GBIF website. We are in the process of updating are volunteer pages on GBIF.org. The new lists for each volunteer type will display the earned badges (whereas they do not currently display).
GBIF Volunteer badges are awarded annually in December (beginning in 2024) for active participation submitted via the Volunteer feedback form (which is sent out in October/November each year). You earned the Ambassador badge in 2024 (and submitted 3 events where you served as an ambassador), but you did not submit any events/activities for 2025. If you did complete ambassador activities for 2025, you can submit it now to be retroactively awarded for 2025. If volunteers don’t tell us they did an event/activity, we don’t know to award the badge.
An email will be sent to all volunteers when the new pages are live on the website. It will also be an opportunity to update your profile information.
