What format is the GBIF key?

What format is the GBIF key? I’m only seeing 7-digit numbers coming back from the API. Will it always be an integer or should I allow for alphanumeric?

Hi Chris,

You should allow for integers, noting that 32 bit integers (e.g. a Java int or PostgreSQL integer) are not sufficient, as we have values beyond 2³¹. (long or bigint are fine.)
