Apparently fishbase is sharing ways to cook fish as synonyms? Or do I miss something here.
“Koudgerookte vlinders”
“Koudgerookte vlinders” refers to a cold-smoked fillet, typically made from small haddock or whiting, sometimes dyed for appearance. These fillets are usually sold either chilled or frozen. This product is popular in Dutch markets and is used in various seafood dishes(FishBase)(FishBase)( FishBase).
Definitely this is good for data use (if you want to cook) but not as a synonym.
Maybe we had to pick a different fishbase list for the taxonomic backbone…
I think you are taking a common (vernacular) name as if it was the same concept as a taxon name (they are not).
Fishbase shows “Koudgerookte vlinders” as a dutch common name for a derived fish product. That information may be wrong, but it has no impact on Fishbase or GBIF taxonomic backbones.
Fishbase does not show any common names (dutch, english, etc) as if they were synonym taxon names (latin binomials wuth scientific authorships).
