BID 2025 eligibility

Dear GBIF Community,

I would like to clarify an eligibility question regarding the submission of concept notes under the regional BID call for proposals.

Is it allowed for the same alliance/consortium to submit more than one concept note? Alternatively, can a single institution participate in and submit more than one concept note if these are led by different alliances or consortia?

Thank you very much for the clarification.

Dear Sir/Madame,

Thank you for reaching out and expressing your interest in the BID programme.

There is no limitation on the number of proposals that can be submitted by one organization/institution. However, please take note that, as indicated in the call for proposals, the selection panel composed of external experts assembled by GBIF will evaluate the proposals based on the reviewers’ scores and comments, the balance of geographic, thematic and grant types representation, the balance of projects that build on the activities of previous grantees and those that are led by new institutions, and the potential for similar proposals to combine into a single submission ensuring the best overall impact of the annual funding round. Applications submitted by a same organization may be in direct competition with each other.

Hope this clarifies your question.

With kind regards,

BID Coordination team
