How to migrate from the legacy GBIF Backbone Taxonomy to Catalogue of Life Extended Release - GBIF Data Blog

Recently GBIF.org has updated the default taxonomy it uses to organize occurrence records to the Catalogue of Life Extended Release (COL XR). The GBIF backbone was last updated in 2023, and will not be updated again. We encourage users of our APIs to migrate towards using the COL XR, namely by switching the checklistKey parameter to checklistKey=7ddf754f-d193-4cc9-b351-99906754a03b.

Curious to learn what will happen to the stored links in services like Wikidata?

@vijaybarve not sure who at wikidata controls these identifiers. They have to be generated via some script.
